Past, Present, and Future of the Internet
The Internet made its first appearance in 1962 as a government weapon in the Cold War. The ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency) was the technological team behind the Internet for Nuclear Weapons. In 1969 ARPANET, the forerunner of the Internet was made. It could only connect to four sites, but was still an amazing breakthrough for them. Researchers worked for years fixing bugs and adding controlling networks. By 1975 the Internet could connect to 63 sites, and by 1980 there were 200 computers that could connect to 20,000 people. The Internet wasn’t really used until the 1990s, by then 45 million people using it. These astonishing numbers were only the beginning of the expiation of the Internet.

Today the Internet is one of the biggest things in the world. Not only a computer has Internet now, but also phones. People can have the Internet in the palm of their hands and it’s not even a big deal. The Internet has expanded immensely but has also shrunk in the fact that we can now do so much with so little. Think about all the things we can do now with the Internet: homework, listen to music, play games, and so much more. Imagine if we didn’t have this. Most people wouldn’t be able to function with out the Internet. Apple has made a huge dent the Internet expansion. Apple was the first to make a modern personal computer in 1976, and later went on to make the iMac and the iPhone. Both these devices are insanely popular and efficient. However, the expansion of the Internet has caused many problems in our world. Now kids are always on their phone or laptop instead of going outside and enjoying life. The Internet is basically taking over the world.

The Internet will continue to grow in the near future. No one knows for sure what the future will hold. People have ideas on the future and what will happen, voice activation, holograms, and so much more its impossible to think of everything. I almost don’t want to thing of all the changes that will happen to the world due to the Internet. The Internet has grown from nothing into the most important things in peoples life’s and will continue to grow as the world grows.

Touchscreens Advances in History

A touchscreen is an electric visual display that the user can control through touching the screen with a finger. Many people believe that Apple was the inventor of touch screens after releasing the worldwide phenomenon the iPhone, however Apple didn’t invent the touchscreen but they did greatly help to evolve it.  Touchscreens have been around for almost 50 years and they are still improving. The  touchscreen was invented in the mid 1960's by a man named E.A Johnson. Johnson’s touchscreen could only read one touch at a time and was used for air traffic control in the U.K. until the mid 1990’s. In 1976 the University of Illinois’ PLATO IV terminal was a touch panel that permitted students to answer questions by touching the screen, this invention was the next step into perfecting the touchscreen. In 1982, a man by the name of Nimish Mehta made a touch tablet that could read multiple touches allowed by a video camera that could communicate with a computer. In 1984 Bob Boie developed the first multi touch screen that allows the user to operate graphics with their fingers. In the year 1993 the Simon Personal Communicator Phone combined touchscreen technology with a telephone for the first time. Two men, John Elias and Wayne Westerman, invented FingerWorks in 1998, it was a gesture operated keyboard that Apple later bought to help them construct the iPhone and the iPad. In 2003 another breakthrough was made, the Lemur. The Lemur was a multitouch screen that could track any amount of fingers. Their company JazzMutant is the first company to make a digital display that can be directly touched to operate. In 2007 the iPhone is finally released. Apple is the first company to effectively issue a touchscreen smartphone into the market world. The iPhone is a worldwide sensation and will continue to grow throughout the years. In 2010 Apple releases the iPad. This advance brings touchscreen technology into a simple day-to-day computer. Touchscreen technology will continue to advance as long as computers and phones are advancing,
